DESCRIPTION
The main source of attraction on the Northern Atolls itinerary is Hanifaru bay, in the Baa atoll, whose name comes from the deserted island adjacent to it which was proclaimed a marine reserve in July 2009. Since then this sandy cove, rough at first sight and without major attractions, has turned into a magnet for manta ray lovers as under certain wind and current conditions during the southwest monsoon, this funnel-shaped bay turns into a large reserve of plankton.
This natural phenomenon certainly does not go unnoticed by all beings that feed on plankton: dozens of manta rays and sometimes whale sharks enter the bay and unite in a majestic banquet. A sublime act of nature that has even managed to bring together more than a hundred manta rays and several whale sharks at once.
Still little invaded by tourism, the atoll of Raa offers the possibility of meeting manta rays and a variety of very colorful thila and giros rich in soft corals and reef fish. In some dive sites even pelagic, if you are lucky, encounters with guitar sharks. Lhaviyani atoll whose particular shape and position with ocean passes exposed both ad east and west allows us to dive to spot sharks and abundant pelagic fish.
With favorable conditions, the cruise will go even further north through Noonu e Shaviyani Atoll, vast areas recently opened to tourism and with many dive sites yet to be discovered.
Beautiful shoals with canopies and caves, soft corals, eagle rays, large groupers and occasionally even gray sharks.
Along the way, stop on fishing islands and splendid desert islands.
