OFFSHORE SAILING

COURSE 1 BASIC

​Objective: To provide the practical and theoretical foundations of sailing.

​

Who it is for: Adults of all ages at their first experience.

​

Vessel: Cabin cruiser

​

Location: Caorle, Veneto, Italy

​

Duration: a weekend

​

Cost: €248.00 including membership fee and insurance

Topics: Nomenclature, position and posture on board, rudder and heading, keeping a course, basic sail trimming, speed control, stationary boat, gaits, tacking, basic knots, mooring.

How: Theory, analysis of the weather situation, objectives and exercises for the day, going out to sea. Each student has the opportunity to cover all roles on board: from the helm to the bow.

During navigation, exercises aimed at consolidating the objectives of the course will be carried out. The day ends with a final de-briefing

Overnight stay on board is available at the price of Euro 20.00 per night: a sheet and a towel are provided.

​

Sleeping bag is recommended.

​

Clothing: sneakers with white (or in any case light-colored) soles, comfortable clothing suitable for the season, complete waxed (if possible) or windproof jacket, sunglasses. Each student is allowed to bring on board only a soft bag of limited size and weight.

OFFSHORE SAILING

COURSE 2 INTERMEDIATE

Objective: To improve sailing knowledge and techniques. Notes on safety.

Who is it for: Adults of all ages who have attended the basic course.

​

Vessel: cabin cruiser

​

Location: Caorle, Veneto, Italy

​

Duration: a weekend

​

Cost: €248.00 including membership fee and insurance

​

Topics: trimming the sails, apparent wind, gybing, taking the buoy, man over board recovery, mooring, anchoring, reefing, safety on board, meteorology.

How: theory, analysis of the weather situation, goals and exercises for the day, going out to sea.

Each student has the opportunity to cover all roles on board: from the helm to the bow.

During navigation, exercises aimed at consolidating the objectives of the course will be carried out.

COURSE 3 ADVANCED

Objective: to perfect the trimming of the sails and trim of the boat, use of the gennaker.

Who is it for: adults of all ages who have attended course 2.

​

Vessel: cabin cruiser

 

Location: Caorle, Veneto, Italy

Duration: a weekend

​

Cost: €248.00 including membership fee and insurance

​

Topics: mast trimming, fine sail trimming, boat trim, hoisting and lowering, gennaker handling, crew positions and movements, tacking and gybing techniques.

COURSE 4 CRUISE

Objective: coastal navigation

​

Who is it for: adults of all ages who have attended the advanced course.

​

Vessel: cabin cruiser

​

Location: embarkation in Caorle, Veneto, Italy and navigation between Venice, Trieste and the Slovenian coast.

​

Duration: a weekend

​

Cost: €275.00 including membership fee and insurance

​

Topics: driving a cruise boat, landing in unknown ports, anchoring and mooring practice, the inboard engine, use of the nautical chart, use of on-board instruments, methods of coastal navigation.

How: theory, analysis of the weather situation to plan the route, objectives and exercises for the weekend, safety briefing.

You go out to sea and live on board for the entire weekend.

Each student has the opportunity to cover all roles on board: from the rudder to the bow.

During navigation, exercises aimed at consolidating the objectives of the course will be carried out.

The course ends with a final de-briefing.

​

The galley is organized by the instructor and everyone is required to participate in the preparation of the meals.

The costs of: fuel, galley, port are excluded and will be divided equally among the students.

​

For overnight stays on board, one sheet and one towel per person will be provided.

COURSE 5 VERY CRUISE

Objective: to acquire autonomy and safety in offshore navigation.

​

Who is it for: adults who have attended the cruise course or have acquired similar skills.

​

Vessel: cabin cruiser

​

Location: embarkation in Caorle, Veneto, Italy and navigation in the upper Adriatic (including Slovenia and Croatia).

​

Duration: five days

​

Cost: €600.00 including membership fee and insurance

​

Topics: use of a cruising rig complete with mainsail, genoa, gennaker, planning a medium-range navigation, landing in unknown places, elements of coastal navigation, use of the nautical chart, use of electronic instruments on board, bureaucracy, anchoring in roadstead, logbook, emergency management.

Objective: regatta techniques and training for participation in an offshore regatta

 

Who is it for: adults who have attended the intermediate course or acquired similar skills.

Vessel: cabin cruiser

Location: Caorle, Veneto, Italy and upper Adriatic

​

Duration: two weekends

​

Cost: €480.00 including membership fee and insurance

​

Topics: regatta tactics and technique, roles on board, fine tuning of sails, boat trim, departure, buoy turns, technical tacking and gybing, hoisting and lowering of spinnakers and/or gennakers, regatta rules.
